Local Places of
Interest The famous university city of Cambridge, 9
miles to the north, offers excellent shops and numerous
restaurants. For entertainment there are cinemas &
theatres and for relaxation, beautiful walks can be enjoyed
through parks, college grounds or alongside the River
Cam.
The Imperial War Museum, situated
in the neighbouring village of Duxford is a former Battle of
Britain fighter station. Home to the largest collection of
military and civil aircraft in Europe, the museum retains its
wartime atmosphere as many of its aeroplanes still
fly.
For members of the National Trust
there are stately homes and Trust sites within a short drive
of the Park such as Wimpole Hall, Anglesey Abbey and Audley
End House.
Travel
Connections Appleacre Park is only 3½ miles from
Junction 10 of the M11 motorway with easy commuting routes to
Cambridge, London and other locations in East Anglia and the
Midlands.
The nearest railway stations are
Shepreth (2 miles), Foxton (3 miles) and Royston (5 miles)
which provides frequent, fast services to London.
For those who enjoy holidays in
Europe or wish to visit friends & family in Scotland,
Ireland or Northern England, then a 25-minute drive along the
M11 takes you to Stansted Airport from where low-cost airlines
operate regular flights to numerous
